Where Life Finds Its Voice in Words

Sikh daughter sitting with her mother and father in a peaceful golden-hour setting

They say God cannot be everywhere,
So He created Mother and Father,
Two souls who stand beside us,
With endless love, protection, and care.

I was blessed to enter this world
As the first daughter of the Sawhney family,
And before I even knew what heaven meant,
God had already given it to me—
In the form of my Mom and Dad. ❤️

Papa, I have always been your princess.
Not because you filled my life with things,
But because you filled my heart
With the certainty that I was never alone.

A tiny cut on my hand
Could bring worry to your eyes,
And a high-grade fever
Could steal the sleep from your nights.
While I rested peacefully,
You would sit beside me,
Checking again and again
If your little girl was alright.

As I grew older,
I realised those sleepless nights
Were not small moments—
They were pieces of your life
You quietly gave away for me.

And Maa,
When I look at you,
I see the woman I have always wanted to become.

I grew up watching you
Work tirelessly as a teacher,
Giving your knowledge, your energy,
And your heart to your students,
While still coming home
And giving even more of yourself to us.

Perhaps that is why
A classroom feels like home to me too.

Your confidence became my courage,
Your voice became my inspiration,
And somewhere along the way,
I inherited those anchoring skills from you—
The confidence to hold a microphone,
Face an audience,
And let my words find their way into people’s hearts.

Every day I work hard
To become the kind of teacher
I grew up admiring in you.

Mom and Dad,
There is no calculation in this world
That can measure what I owe you.

How can a daughter ever repay
Years of sacrifice?
How can she return
Sleepless nights, silent prayers,
Hard work, protection, patience,
And a lifetime of unconditional love?

I know I never can.

Through every thick and thin,
You have looked after me
As though I were your little fairy—
Protecting my wings when they were fragile
And giving me the courage to fly
When they became strong. ✨

Even today,
No matter how old I become,
Somewhere in your eyes
I will always remain
That little girl you want to protect.

So through these few words,
I only want to say—

Thank you, Mom.
Thank you, Dad. ❤️

Thank you for giving me
A childhood filled with love,
A life filled with blessings,
And a home where I always knew
I belonged.

I love you both
More than I could ever explain,
More than these words could ever hold,
And perhaps,
Even more than I love myself.

And if someday God stood before me
And asked me for my final wish,
I would ask for nothing for myself.

I would simply say—

“Take whatever is written in my share, Lord,
But keep my parents blessed.
Give them the happiness they gave me,
Give them the peace they sacrificed for me,
And protect them every single day
Just as they have protected me all my life.” 🙏

Because if there is heaven on Earth,
I have already lived in it—

In my mother’s embrace,
In my father’s protective hands,
And in the beautiful privilege
Of being their daughter.

Mom and Dad,
you are my first home,
my greatest blessing,
and the prayer I will keep making
for as long as I live. ❤️
